One of her <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/world/africa/22libya.html?scp=5&amp;sq=naggar&amp;st=cse">recent articles</a> evaluates Ghaddafi/Qaddafi&#8217;s grip on power.</p>
<p>We moved right on to continue last week&#8217;s discussion of the budget/labor crisis in <strong>Wisconsin</strong>, which of course has been going on around the clock.</p>
<p>We spent all of <strong>Hour 2</strong> talking with you about Wisconsin, state budget squeezes, <strong>organized labor</strong>, the Democratic party, teachers &#8212; the whole gamut.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2374" title="wisconsin-statehouse-protest-2" src="http://standupwithpetedominick.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/wisconsin-statehouse-protest-2.jpg" alt="wisconsin-statehouse-protest-2" width="450" height="266" /></p>
<p>At the top of Hour 3, <a href="http://standupwithpetedominick.com/guest-profile/foreign-affairs-expert-stephen-walt">Professor Stephen Walt</a> joined us to explain <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2375" title="headshot_stephen-walt" src="http://standupwithpetedominick.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/headshot_stephen-walt.jpg" alt="headshot_stephen-walt" width="100" height="100" />US policy toward Israel/Palestine in light of President Obama&#8217;s first exercise of Washington&#8217;s veto power to block a UN Security Council resolution otherwise unanimously condemning the illegal settlements in the West Bank. Stephen wrote a <a href="http://walt.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/02/20/a_false_friend_in_the_white_house">controversial commentary</a> on the matter following th vote. During the segment, Pete mentioned <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULvJrb5lKu4">this debate</a> between Noam Chomsky and Alan Dershowitz at Harvard.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2376" title="headshot_chrystia-freeland" src="http://standupwithpetedominick.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/headshot_chrystia-freeland.jpg" alt="headshot_chrystia-freeland" width="100" height="100" /><a href="http://standupwithpetedominick.com/guest-profile/journalist-chrystia-freeland">Chrystia Freeland</a>, global editor-at-large of Reuters, joined Pete for the first of what I hope will be many interviews, talking today about the growing gap between the super rich and the rest of us, and just how it came about. Chrystia&#8217;s <a href="http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2011/01/the-rise-of-the-new-global-elite/8343/">recent article</a> on the topic appeared in <em>The Atlantic</em>. Also check out <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/newsnight/9382745.stm">this version</a> prepared for the BBC. This interview was so good, I had to post the audio.</p>

<p>At the end of the show, Pete critiqued a <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/21/opinion/21nagl.html"><em>NY Times</em> op-ed</a> by John Nagl and Nathaniel Flick claiming progress in <strong>Afghanistan</strong>.</p>
